2024-25 SEASON RESULTS:

PA STATE FINALS: pocono mountain school district - april 5, 2025

FOUR Upper St. Clair teams earned top marks at the PA Odyssey State Finals at Pocono Mountain School District on April 5, 2025. These four teams will travel to Michigan State University to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals from May 21-24, 2025. We hope you have an amazing TIME!

The team from Boyce Middle School that solved the vehicle problem, “The OM-Mazing Race,” earned second place in division one. Team members include Cole Hirzel, Roman Duffy, Ben Caesar, Ellie Finnegan, Emily Michalak, Quin Thorp, and Julia Ross. The team is coached by Brett Duffy and Nadine Michalak.

Teams from Fort Couch Middle School and Boyce Middle School competed in the classics problem, "Classics... Cooking with Books." The Fort Couch team earned first place in division two, with a performance inspired by "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory." Team members include Ava Fingal, Sophia Lee, Caroline Fingal, Drew Holzer, Keira Mycoff, Rehana Rai, and Lydia Calkins. Josh Mycoff and Doug Calkins serve as coaches.

The Boyce team earned second place in division two with a performance inspired by "The Hobbit." Team members include Penelope Collins, Kendall Zielinski, Avery Metcalf, Elliot Sams, Marcelina Enos, and Lula Griffin. The team is coached by Sarah Sams and Jacob Collins.

The team from Upper Saint Clair High School that solved the technical problem, "Mech-Animal Sidekick," earned second place in division three. Thea Sheuerle, Daphne Collins, Ashwin Vasudevan, and Parker Sams performed in the competition. Nigel Bailey, Kayden Dunkin, and Sophiya Gorban are also members of this team. This team is coached by Sarah Sams and Jacob Collins.

WPA REGIONAL TOURNAMENT: KEYSTONE OAKS HS/MS - March 8, 2025

A record 12 teams from Upper St. Clair earned top spots at the annual Western Pennsylvania Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament–qualifying to advance to the state finals on April 5, 2025, at Pocono Mountain East Campus in Swiftwater, PA.

In total, 24 Upper St. Clair teams, comprising 149 students with representation from all six of the district’s schools, competed against teams from across the region. The regional tournament was held on Saturday, March 8, at Keystone Oaks Middle and High Schools.

Division 1 (grades 3-5)

The team from Baker Elementary School that solved the performance problem earned third place. Team members include Lipi Kairi, Harrison Snavely, Max Allen, Lily Wang, Erika Bonnell, Jackson Beck, Chase Ingalise. This team is coached by Betsy Allen, Nicole Beck, and Kelly Ingalise.

The team from Eisenhower Elementary School that solved the Classics problem earned second place. Team members include Kara Mercer, Abigail Elders, Amelia Wilkinson, Jackson Hollihan, Isidora Lukic, Lilly Qian, and Julia Zambrano. This team is coached by Stefani Wilkinson and Sarah Hollihan.

The team from Streams Elementary School that solved the Balsa Problem earned second place. Team members include Adrianna Delesio, Nikola Tannenbaum, Ivabelle Bourg, Pacy Fischer, Ella Molina, Layla Pantano, and Patricia Drutis. This team is coached by Chris Bourg and Cassi Molina.

Division 2 (grades 6-8)

The team from Fort Couch Middle School that solved the Performance problem earned first place. Team members include Seth Pedretti, Austin Szpara, Enoch Katru, Violet McLeod, Luciana Putorti, Scarlett Burgess, James Conner. This team is coached by Kyle Burgess and Kristy Szpara.

The team from Fort Couch Middle School that solved the Vehicle problem earned first place. Team members include Em Brooks, Ari Carter, Axel Johnson, Alexis Hettich, Hadlèy Maxwell, Grace Reis, and Vienna Eisinger. This team is coached by Melissa Blackwood and Vonya Eisinger.

The team from Fort Couch Middle School that solved the Technical problem earned second place. Team members include Prahan Munnaluri, Kip Hackett, Jacob Reinford, and Ivan Yanov. This team is coached by John Reinford.

The team from Fort Couch Middle School that solved the Performance problem earned third place. Team members include Colby Caplan, Izzy Dastur, Finley Garvey, Emily Geisler, and Evan Stover. This team is coached by Shanna Caplan and Chris Stover.

Division 3 (grades 9-12)

The team from Upper St. Clair High School that solved the Classics problem earned first place. Team members include Geneva Eisinger, Chloe Faist, Preston McLeod, Ian Putorti, Lauren Ginsburg, Daniyal Badaruddin,  and Kurt Baran. This team is coached by Dawn Predmore and Nate Eisinger.

SPONTANEOUS FUN DAY: Penn Hills Middle School - February 22, 2025!

USC Odyssey of The Mind Teams Place at Spontaneous Fun Day Three USC OM teams produced stellar results powered by their creative problem solving as they participated in Western Pennsylvania Odyssey’s Spontaneous Fun Day at Penn Hills Middle School on Saturday, February 22.

A team of Boyce sixth graders coached by Sarah Sams and Jacob Collins placed second place in Division II. Team members include Lula Griffin, Kendall Zielinski, Penelope Collins, Elliot Sams, Marcelina Enos, Avery Metcalf.

A team of Ft Couch students coached by Kyle Burgess and Kristy Szpara placed third in Division II. Team members include Violet McLeod, Austin Szpara, Seth Pedretti, Luciana Putorti, Scarlett Burgess, Enoch William Katru, James Conner.

A team of Eisenhower and Streams students Kyle Burgess and Kristy Szpara placed third in Division I. Team members include Ivabelle Bourg, Adrianna Delesio, Isabella Molina, Nikola Tannenbaum, Patricia Drutis, Pacy Fischer, Layla Pantano.
