COACHES’ CORNER:
Spontaneous Problems

Solved on the spot and not known by the team in advance, Spontaneous teaches kids to think on their feet! There are three types of problems: Verbal, Verbal Hands-on and Hands-on. Plan to practice at least one problem every meeting - Spontaneous is a skill that needs lots of practice! Learn more about how to coach & practice Spontaneous, and download practice problems below.

SPONTANEOUS pACKS:

COACHES, the USC OM Board will provide you with a monthly Spontaneous pack of problems starting in October! The first pack will be distributed to new teams at kickoff; returning teams can pick yours up starting Tuesday, October 8 at the home of Brett Duffy (check your email for the address). November packs will be available starting 11/7, and December will be available at our Round Robin Skills training on 12/7.

PRACTICE PROBLEMS:

NOTE: The problems in the archive and on most websites you find are written for FIVE team members to participate. Odyssey now encourages all team members to participate. No one sits out. Teams are given tokens (usually 35) to use for responses. Team members can answer in order, but the more strategic approach would be to provide your most creative answers first before time runs out. Please keep this in mind and modify when using these practice problems.
